Design & Aesthetic Details
Style: Heavily influenced by 18th-century European Baroque
and Rococo traditions. It is modeled after the grandiose overmantel mirrors
that once decorated the gilded aristocratic salons of Italy and France.
Frame Silhouette: Features an exaggerated,
wide-sweeping scalloped shape. The sweeping lines are animated with deep
architectural curves and dramatic flowing contours.
Ornamentation: The perimeter is adorned with intricate
hand-carved scrollwork, fluid C-scroll designs, acanthus foliate relief
details, and organic rocaille forms.
The Crest: The top crown features an openwork,
high-relief decorative shell and scrolling crest that acts as the focal anchor
for the piece.
Finish: Coated in an antiqued gold metal leaf
finish. This treatment gives the gold a deep, dimensional luster, with
subtle burnished highlights settling into the recesses to mimic aged historical
patina.
Typical Placement
Because of its unique horizontal layout and broad scale, this
mirror is intended as a high-end statement accent piece. It is perfectly
proportioned to serve as a luminous focal point resting directly above a living
room fireplace mantel, an entryway console table, or a grand formal dining room
sideboard.
